Transparency

The use of transparencies in textile work brings aesthetic and artistic qualities that with other kind of fabrics cannot be achieved. Silk also adds its own properties: natural fabric, shiny, can easily be dyed at home to get their own color palettes.

We will work mainly with the following qualities of silk: organza, cheesecloth , hankies , decorative threads and hank .

Our main objective is to transform surfaces in new fabrics with which to develop artistic works as well clothing and accessories.

It is known that silk has many properties which are valued but it is not an easy fabric to work . Our long experience with this noble material and restlessness to achieve new effects with transparency, has made us develop techniques that greatly facilitate the work and allow to do really spectacular things for anyone with average skills with the sewing machine.

In this course we propose: Playing with overlays transparencies to create subtle shades and glazes, layering with surprise results but always fun and easy to make and two ways to get fabrics that bring us closer to contemporary lace.

These techniques can be applied to a fabric base , for example to make quilts or bags , and without base, accentuating the play of transparencies , such as pojagi quilts, clothing, accessories, curtains and lamps .
